Hingis has retired permanently from professional tennis in part due to cocaine found in a blood sample earlier this year. I'm so heart-broken about what's happened with Martina Hingis. I just can't believe that she would do coke. It's certainly not unheard of that these drug testing companies screw up on occasion. It's really too bad that she has to go out like this. She put in a great effort when she returned to the tour last year and got to the top 10. Just like that. After about 4 years away. During that time the game has moved even further towards the power game that she just doesn't have and probably never could. It would be like asking a tennis player to all of a sudden switch to racquet ball. It's just not the game that she excels at. I mean.....she did prepare well before her return.....tightened up and sported quite a lean strong physique. Just wasn't good enough to get to the absolute top of the game. But then again, she never fooled anyone into thinking that she returned to the game to reach number 1. She returned because she loves the game. And she missed it dearly. Now she has to leave under these circumstances???!!
